Made Precious: Alexis Arnold & Esther Traugot
In Arnold and Traugot’s work objects both natural and man-made are made precious by encapsulating them in crystal and fiber. Their coverings act as eulogies to the fading culture of hardcopy books and to the dead representative bodies of a species in crisis. In their practices each artist transforms and elevates their subject, encouraging observation and attention.
Arnold’s crystalized book series will be on display alongside Traugot’s crochet covered natural specimens from August 3 through September 18.
