About the Event
If your idea of "Dry January" is a martini with just a splash of vermouth, this event is for you! The MAC's "Dry-ish" celebration is less about deprivation and more about indulgence, rhythm, and (as Julia Child might say) joie de vivre!" DJ Rotten Robbie will be spinning an all vinyl, all disco set, and the guests will get to help pick the records! If dancing is not your thing, you can hit the red carpet to our VIP photo nook, and sample a smorgasbord of 1970s/80's treats and sweets, plus:
Charbay Distillery will be pouring its classic clear vodka for dry martini's, and the sobriety-curious will have plenty to enjoy with adaptogen and herb flavored mocktails from Curious Elixirs, the drink voted "best non alcoholic drink" by The New York Times five years in a row! Knock back a "shooter" containing a delicious oyster from Osprey Seafood, swimming in a bubbling sea of Bloody Mary mix. Sample some of the delicious sweets and treats that made the 1970s and 80's so memorable -- a culinary era notable for its Crock Pots, mini gherkins, pigs in blankets and fondue.
The party takes place in the Ron & Diane Disney Miller" Main Gallery at The MAC, within the exhibition "Julia Child: A Recipe for Life" celebrating the bold spirit and timeless influence of the beloved chef who taught America to cook. This 21+ event invites guests to fully embrace the era—costumes and outfits inspired by the time period are highly encouraged. Be there for this first of what we plan as an annual event. It’s after hours. It’s late night (for Napa Valley, anyway). It’s a little dry, full of flavor, and fated to be fabulous!
To get ready:
- make your play list of favorite Disco tunes from the 1970s and 80s
- get out your Dancing Shoes
- lay out those Disco Duds hanging in the back of your closet: your velour bell-bottoms, that Quiana shirt unbuttoned down to the navel (don't forget the gold chains and chest hair), bring out the sequin jumpsuit, glittery eye shadow and glamour wigs, or go full Bee Gees in matching white polyester suits. Whether your style is John Travolta or Ziggy Stardust, Donna Summer or Cher, whether you rock a mullet, fro or shag, or whether you plan to hit the dance floor, watch from a quiet corner, or walk the red carpet to our VIP photo nook, you're sure to catch a hot case of Friday Night Fever!
