At The MAC opening October 17, 2026:
Meet the Couple Who Defined Modern Design.
Created in collaboration with the Eames Institute of Infinite Curiosity. Curated by Llisa Demetrios, Co-Founder & The Lucia Eames Chief Curator of the Eames Institute of Infinite Curiosity.
Discover the boundless curiosity of Ray and Charles Eames, two of the 20th century’s most influential designers. Eames & Eames will explore their iterative, hands-on, and human-centered approach. Through furniture, toys, paintings, graphics, and personal belongings collected over their lifetimes, this groundbreaking exhibition looks beyond the iconic Eames chairs to reveal the breadth of their creative practice. More than any single object, their work opened doors to new and unexpected ways of seeing, thinking, making, and understanding the world—ideas that continue to inspire us today.
The exhibition also offers an introduction to the Eames Institute and its vision for the world class museum it is currently building, a dynamic cultural space dedicated to sparking creative chain reactions, and asking, as Ray and Charles did, how we can make the world a better place, together.

Funding for the Eames Institute is generously provided by the American Endowment Foundation and hundreds of other donors and members who believe in the power of design.

About the Artists
Charles Eames Jr. (1907-1978) and Ray-Bernice Eames (1912-1988) were an American married couple of industrial designers who made significant historical contributions to the development of modern architecture and furniture through the work of the Eames Office. They also worked in the fields of industrial and graphic design, fine art, and film. Charles was the public face of the Eames Office, but Ray and Charles worked together as creative partners and employed a diverse creative staff. Among their most recognized designs are the Eames Lounge Chair and Ottoman, Eames Fiberglass Armchair, and Eames Aluminum Group.
