Comprehensive Collection on View in California for First Time Ever
April 11 – September 13, 2026
St. Helena, CA – March 10, 2026 — The Napa Valley Museum of Art & Culture (The MAC) is proud to present The Wyeths: Three Generations | Works from the Bank of America Collection on view for the first time ever in California from April 11 through September 13, 2026. www.napavalleymuseum.org
For three generations, the Wyeths have captured the imagination and admiration of a wide audience through their works. Spanning more than 100 years of works from the early 1900s to present day, it provides a comprehensive survey of works by N. C. Wyeth, one of America's finest illustrators; his son, Andrew, an important realist painter; and Andrew's son Jamie, a popular portraitist. Not as well-known as her brother Andrew, Henriette Wyeth was an accomplished artist whose paintings express the fragile nature of beauty and life. Works by Peter Hurd, a student of N.C. Wyeth and husband of Henriette Wyeth, are also included in the exhibition.

“Bringing this collection of the Wyeth family's work to California for the first time is an honor for The MAC and our community,” said Napa Valley Museum Executive Director Laura Rafaty. “At our new flagship location, The MAC, we aim to present exhibitions illuminating the cultural movements, historical moments, and artistic explorations that shape how we see the world. This significant collection explores these common themes while encapsulating a particular view on American identity.”
“As a company that has served the Napa region for nearly 100 years, BofA is always honored to contribute to the unique cultural elements that help make the valley thrive. One way we do this is by supporting our great museums here, investing in the arts and making exhibits such as this one more accessible,” said Amy Loflin, North Bay market executive, Bank of America.
This exhibition presents a selection of the work of five of the family's artists through 75 remarkable paintings and drawings. Patriarch N.C. Wyeth was one of the country's foremost illustrators at the turn of the twentieth century. Included in the exhibition are his classic illustrations for books by Robert Louis Stevenson and Washington Irving. N.C.'s son Andrew is known for his haunting, highly detailed realist paintings. Henriette Wyeth began her art studies with her father at age eleven and overcame polio to become an accomplished portraitist. Andrew Wyeth's son, Jamie, represents the third generation of the family. His paintings often feature the people, animals, and landscapes of Maine and Pennsylvania, and are imbued with a sense of magic and mystery.
“The Wyeths: Three Generations | Works from the Bank of America Collection” will be on display at The MAC, the Napa Valley Museum's new flagship location in St. Helena, CA, along famed Highway 29 in the Ron and Diane Disney Miller Gallery. As other arts institutions are contracting or closing outright, the Napa Valley Museum has expanded, redefining what a regional museum can be. The MAC is located at 607 St. Helena Hwy, St. Helena, CA, and open daily 10 am to 5 pm. Find out more about the Napa Valley Museum's current and upcoming exhibitions at www.napavalleymuseum.org.
This exhibition has been loaned through the Bank of America Art in our Communities® program, whereby museums and nonprofit cultural institutions can borrow complete exhibitions curated from the Bank of America Art Collection. This is the third exhibition that BofA has provided through its Art in our Communities program to the Napa Valley Museum, the others being The Art Books of Henri Matisse in 2008 and Modern Women | Modern Vision in 2019.
About the Napa Valley Museum
What began over 50 years ago as a small museum dedicated to local history has evolved into today's Napa Valley Museum — a vibrant cultural institution presenting innovative exhibitions of art, nature, and history to engage and inspire visitors from around the world. As many other museums are contracting or closing, Napa Valley Museum is expanding to two locations: the Napa Valley Museum Yountville (“The NVMY”) and a new flagship location: the Napa Valley Museum of Art & Culture (“The MAC”) on Highway 29 in St. Helena.
Napa Valley Museum is redefining what a regional museum can be. The MAC serves as a presenter of major exhibitions illuminating the cultural movements, historical moments, and artistic explorations that shape how we see the world.
